On Tuesday, February 24th 2026, the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will travel to North Shore Senior High School to participate in the Galena Park ISD Pre-UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. This is a chance for us to be evaluated on our music, practice the sight-reading procedure, and get a chance to perform the music before we get to our UIL contest in March. This Pre-UIL performance will serve as a major test grade, so your child’s complete participation is very important. Parents are welcome and encouraged to come if they are able.

What to Wear: Concert Black Uniform

• Girls: Black dress pants or black dress skirt that touches your ankles with a black dress top. Shoes must be black dress flats.

• Boys: Black dress slacks with a black belt and a black tucked-in long sleeve button up dress shirt. Shoes must be black dress shoes with long black socks.

Symphonic Band Schedule

Arrive to school dressed in concert black uniform. Eat breakfast and report to the MPR for advisory. Students will miss advisory, 1st period, and 2nd period (symphonic band period).

• 8:45am: Load Truck

• 9:20am: Depart for NSSHS

• 9:40am: Arrive at NSSHS

• 10:00am: Warmup

• 10:25am: Stage

• 10:50am: Sightread

• 11:10am: Load Buses

• 11:20am: Depart for WAMS

• 11:40am: Arrive at WAMS and report to the band hall

Students will remain in the band hall since they have band for 2nd period. Students will report to 3rd period, lunch, and 4th period as normal

Wind Ensemble Schedule

Arrive to school dressed in concert black uniform. Eat breakfast and report to normal advisory and 1st period. Students will miss all of 2nd period and 3rd period.

• 10:31am (start of 2nd period): Meet in the Band Hall

• 10:45am: Eat Lunch in the Cafeteria

• 11:25am: Depart for NSSHS

• 11:45am: Arrive

• 12:05pm: Warmup

• 12:30pm: Stage

• 12:55pm: Sightread

• 1:15pm: Load Buses

• 1:25pm: Depart for WAMS

• 1:45pm: Arrive at WAMS, unload, and report to the MPR

Students will remain in MPR until dismissal to 4th period

• 2:16pm: Dismiss to 4th period

On Tuesday, March 3rd the WAMS 6th/7th/8th grade percussion students and Jazz Band members will be performing in a percussion/jazz concert at Galena Park High School with the Galena Park High School students and Galena Park Middle School.

What to Wear:

• 7th/8th Grade Students: Concert Black Uniform

• 6th Grade Students: This year's WAMS Band Shirt, Blue Jeans, and Tennis Shoes

When: Tuesday, March 3rd

• 4:00pm - Students meet in the band hall

• 4:05pm - Load Equipment on Bus

• 4:30pm - Depart for Galena Park HS

• 4:45pm - Arrive at GPHS

• 5:00pm - Rehearsals/Pizza Provided

• 6:30pm - Concert Begins

• *Approximately 7:45pm - Dismissal at GPHS (PARENT PICK UP AT GPHS)

• Optional 7:45pm - GPHS Jazz Band 1 and Percussion Ensemble Performances (you may stay for their performance)
